Going south from Taumarunui, turn right down Oio Road just after Owhango.  Keep going right to the end of the road down the Retaruke River Valley almost to where it goes onto the Wanganui River - see bottom left of the map - Whio Lodge is just on the left after you come out of the trees and just after the old woolshed. 

 The thin black line on the map is the Wanganui River.

Take care on the gravel!

Alternatively, heading north from National Park turn left at Raurimu in the big dip and head along the Kaitieke Road until you reach Oio Road - turn left  when you hit the tarseal past the school, and just follow your nose to the end.
