North Island of New Zealand. Taupo is in the central North Island, on the top side of the big lake - lake Taupo, which by the way was once a mountain. Its eruption, one of the largest in recorded history, formed a caldera volcano ie. the crater collapsed in on itself and allowed the lake to be formed. There are still geothermal hot spots in and around the lake. See below for a link for info about the Taupo volcanic area. Hunting I offer in the North Island is mainly south west of Lake Taupo. Our capital Wellington is at the very bottom tip. | |

Fiordland is the area bottom left (ie. South -West part of NZ) It is largely unihabited, very rugged in places with many fiords. I offer a fantastic hunting trip to an area due west of Tuatapere (left of Invercargill). See 'Fiordland Special'
